Douglas County Criminal Lawyer for Federal Drug Distribution Charges in Nebraska

While drug possession with intent to distribute in Nebraska brings substantial penalties for a conviction, consequences increase significantly when an individual is charged with drug trafficking, as severe federal drug trafficking laws may come into effect. This is among the most serious drug offenses a person can face, with penalties up to life in prison and $75 million in fines.

If you or a loved one have been charged with narcotics trafficking, it is imperative you secure elite legal representation immediately. Olsen Law Offices, P.C., L.L.O. Attorney Tom Olsen is a Former Assistant State Attorney General and Assistant Omaha City Prosecutor with three decades of trial experience. He has successfully defended thousands of clients against drug charges, including out-of-state drivers arrested after traffic stops on Interstate 80 for transporting legally purchased marijuana from Colorado. His successes also include many cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin cases.

Federal Marijuana Laws

Penalties for marijuana trafficking are determined by the weight or number of cannabis plants confiscated by law enforcement:

Less than 50 kilograms, up to 49 plants, or up to 1 kilogram of hash oil: Up to five years' imprisonment and $250,000 fine for first offense, up to 10 years and $500,000 fine for second offense.

50 to 99 kilograms or plants, or more than 1 kilogram of hash oil: Up to 20 years of imprisonment and $1 million fine for first offense, up to 30 years and $2 million fine for second offense.

100 to 999 kilograms or plants: Minimum five years of jail, and maximum of 40 years and $5 million fine for first offense; 20 years to life and maximum fine of $8 million for second offense.

1,000+ kilograms or plants: Minimum of 10 years in prison, and maximum of life and $10 million fine for first offense; 20 years to life and maximum fine of $20 million for second offense.

Other Federal Drug Trafficking Penalties

Punishments for other Schedule I narcotics include:

Cocaine (500 to 4,999 grams), heroin (100 to 999 grams), meth (50 to 499 grams): Five to 40 years' imprisonment, up to $5 million fine for first offense; 10 years to life, up to $8 million fine for second offense.

Cocaine (5+ kilograms), heroin (1+ kilograms), meth (500+ grams): 10 years to life, up to $10 million fine for first offense; 20 years to life, up to $20 million fine for second offense.
