Various criminal charges are classified as sex crimes, including:

Sexual assault: Includes 1st degree and 2nd degree felonies, and 3rd-degree misdemeanor. Punishments include up to 50 years in prison for 1st degree, with a mandatory 25 years for a second offense. 

Child molestation: Involves a child under age 12 and a perpetrator 19 years or older, or a child 12-16 years old and an assailant 25 or older. Charged as a Class IB felony, with a minimum 15-year sentence for a first offense.

Child pornography: Perpetrators under 19 are charged with a Class IV felony for each offense, with up to two years in prison and $10,000 fine. Those 19 and over are charged with a Class IIA felony, with up to 20 years in prison.

Solicitation of a minor: This is charged as a Class IIIA felony, with up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. It escalates to a Class IIA felony if the perpetrator committed sexual assault, solicited the child online, or kidnapped or falsely imprisoned the child.

Solicitation and prostitution: With no prior convictions, this is charged as a Class I misdemeanor, unless the person solicited is under 18 years old, which makes it a Class IV felony for the solicitor, with up to two years in prison and a minimum fine of $500.
